Our Classes

Commercials, Television and Film Groups Classes (Tween/ Teens)

This class will focus on one of the most critical skills for an actor in the busy market today: Audition Technique. In addition, the class will work through Scene Study with scripts from well-known movies and television. Students will learn about Cold Reads, Mastering Film and Television Genres, Script analysis, Finding Emotional Triggers, Internalizing and Memorizing Text, Comedy Delivery, Creating a Character, and more!

Actors will also gain different techniques and skills to behave truthfully in imaginary circumstances, gaining a toolbox full of skills to help create moment-to-moment authentically! In class, they will learn how to tackle auditions for different types of genres, including sitcoms, dramas, fantasy, sci-fi, crime/investigation, period pieces, and more. Additionally, students will rotate in Commercials, which include relaxation techniques, creating a relationship with the camera, script analysis (marking copy, internalizing words), interview techniques, cold reads, improvisation, and tools of the trade.

Kidz On Camera: Rising Stars (Ages 8-11)

This ongoing class is designed for ages 8-11, builds a performer’s confidence and skills, and focuses on commercials, film, and television, audition technique, cold reading skills, script analysis, overcoming performance, jitters, and improvisation. Rising Stars meet once a week.

Wednesdays 4:30 PM to 6 PM

On-Camera Scene Study & Emotional Preparation (18+)

In addition to scene study, the class will cover emotional preparation, providing actors with the tools and techniques necessary to access their emotions and bring depth and authenticity to their performances. The instructors will guide actors through a variety of exercises designed to help them connect with their emotions and use them to enhance their performances.

Throughout the class, actors will have the opportunity to work on film and television scenes and or monologues, allowing them to put their skills into practice and receive feedback from the instructor.

Kidz On Camera: 101 Ages 6-8

This is a fun on-camera class that builds confidence and develops imagination while learning a combination of techniques for commercials, films, television, interview skills, commercial improv, audition technique, tools of the trade, and print. Space is limited.

This class meets once a week on Wednesday 4 PM-5:30 PM. 

On-Camera Commercial Audition Technique/Improv (18+)

In this class, actors will learn a variety of skills and acting techniques necessary to succeed in the competitive world of commercial acting. The class will incorporate cold reads, text analysis, tools of the trade, camera technique, and listening and reacting skills. They will also learn how to work with partners and props.

The class will also incorporate improv exercises, which will help actors develop their spontaneity, creativity, and ability to think on their feet.

Throughout the acting training, students will have the opportunity to work on commercial scripts and commercial improv, allowing them to put their skills into practice and receive feedback from the instructor.

The On-Camera Audition Technique Commercials/Improv class provides a supportive and encouraging environment for actors to develop their skills and abilities, and to achieve their goals as actors.

Commercials, Film, and Television Class (18+)

The 18+ Commercials, Film, and Television class is a dynamic and engaging course designed specifically for adults who are interested in pursuing acting opportunities in commercials, film, and television. The course provides a supportive and inclusive environment, where adults can connect with others who share their passion for acting and feel comfortable around people of the same age.

Throughout the class, the adults will learn a variety of skills and techniques, including interview skills, audition technique, commercial text analysis, commercial improvisation, cold reads, scene study, self-tape preparation & submission, on-camera technique, and tools of the trade such as headshots and resumes.

Students will have the opportunity to put their skills into practice in a realistic audition setting, and receive feedback from the instructor and their peers.

Mondays 9 AM – 11 AM

Audition Technique & Cold Read Drills (18+)

Audition Technique & Cold Read Drills is a comprehensive class designed to help actors improve their auditioning skills and develop a strong foundation in acting techniques. In this class, actors will learn techniques to prepare for auditions and how to present themselves confidently and professionally in the audition room.

The class will also focus on developing a strong acting technique, including connecting with the material, working with partners, and making bold and specific choices. Through a series of exercises and drills, actors will learn how to build their skills, develop their craft, and gain confidence and proficiency in their acting abilities.

Overall, this class is essential for actors who want to succeed in the competitive world of method acting actors and who are committed to developing their skills and abilities to their fullest potential.

5-Week Series  – May 29th to June 28th, 2025

Audition Technique & Self-Tape Preparation (18+)

This acting training class will focus on developing a strong foundation in audition technique, including how to make bold and specific choices, how to connect with the material, and how to work with partners in group classes.

Additionally, the class will cover the specific skills needed for self-taped auditions, including how to set up a home studio, how to use lighting and sound equipment, and how to create a professional-looking audition tape.

Also, in this class, we will go through the auditioning, uploading process, and walk through the steps together.

Tuesdays, August 12th – September 9th, 2025

Private In-Person Coaching Sessions

Cara Alvey can work one-on-one with clients on a variety of scripts from the latest movies, commercials, and TV shows. Some clients choose to work on upcoming auditions/or productions they are in. CAAW is available to work through online acting classes and group classes via Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, and many others.

Online Coaching Session

Cara Alvey, utilizing the Stella adler method, can work one-on-one with clients on a variety of scripts from the latest movies, commercials, and TV shows. Some clients choose to work on upcoming auditions/or productions they are in. CAAW is available to work group classes through Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, and many others.

On Camera Audition Technique: Sitcom & Comedy (+18)

The class will focus on techniques for delivering comedic lines and timing, as well as how to create believable characters and make strong choices in auditions. Students will learn how to analyze scripts and create characters that are unique and memorable. The class will be taught by experienced industry professionals who will provide personalized feedback and guidance to each student.
